11/08 ~ At 11:31 Littleton Fire Communications received multiple reports of heavy smoke coming from the Whole Foods at York Street & Commons Avenue in Southglenn.  Engine 15 reported heavy smoke visible from their bay and transmitted a 2nd Alarm.  Engine 15 arrived first due and found heavy flames and smoke showing from a building under construction directly behind Whole Foods.  The crew from 15 established their own water supply and advanced two attack lines for exposure protection and fire attack.  Engine 38 laid a supply line from the north into Engine 33 and both companies advanced attack lines.  Upon a 360 it was discovered that the building was being renovated and several 6 foot tall piles of Styrofoam insulation was heavily involved.  A perimeter fence had to be breached and the front wall was showing early signs of failure. The fire was quickly darkened down and some of the second alarm companies were released.  It took over two hours to get the fire out with multiple hand lines and two master streams.  No extension to any exposures occurred but the Whole Foods Store was evacuated and sustained water damage.  All of the workers in the building safely evacuated and no injuries were reported.  Investigators were called to the scene.
