High Rise Apartment Fire

At 21:32 on September 29th, 2018 Denver Fire Department responded to a reported high rise apartment fire on the 9th floor in the 300 block of W. Ellsworth Ave. Rescue 11 arrived to a high rise multi-family 9-story building with nothing showing, Engine 11 arrived and hooked up to the standpipe and stretched a line to the 9th floor, Engine 1 secured a water supply and pulled a back-up line in. Chief 2 arrived and assumed command on the Alpha side, and Ops 2 assigned Safety. Crews found smoke showing on the 9th floor with a smoke alarm activated in an apartment, and made entry. Tower 23 arrived and assigned to the roof, and Truck 4 as RIT on the 8th floor, with Engine 20. Crews found a small fire in a bedroom, Engine 11 started water on the fire and crews rescued one victim, and request ALS. Engine 20 assumed medical and started CPR, Tower 4 was reassigned to the 9th floor, and Tower 1 assumed RIT with Tower 23 on primary search on 8th floor. Fire was put under control with no extension. One patient was transported by Denver Paramedics to a local hospital with unknown injuries and arson was called to the scene for investigation.
