Arvada Vegetation Fire

On October 11th 2020 at 15:42 Arvada Fire Protection District was dispatched to a vegetation fire in the area of the Pioneer Sand & Gravel Center off Hwy. 93. Brush 58 arrived to the Pioneer property with a wind driven vegetation fire and started fire attack. Battalion 52 arrived and assumed command, and requested 2 additional engines in the area of Springs Mesa Park area for structure protection with fire burning at the fence lines of the homes. Crews arrived and set-up structure protection at W. 77th Dr. and Yule Ct. Truck 56 arrived in the area of 7700 Yankee Ct. with fire burning next to several houses and a fence, and secured their own water supply and set up for structure protection. Several homes in the neighborhood were evacuated as a precaution and crews worked the fire with 30 to 50 mph winds gusts. Because of the large size of the fire, additional resources and a strike team was requested including Westminster Fire Department, Golden Fire Department and South Metro Fire Rescue. Air Resources were unavailable due to high winds.
