Boulder County Barn Fire

On April 17th, 2020 at 16:59 Boulder County Communications received calls of a barn fire near the intersection of S. Boulder Rd. & Cherryvale Rd. in unincorporated Boulder County. A rural structure fire assignment was dispatched. Rocky Mountian Fire Protection District & Louisville Fire Protection District were toned out to the call, and Engine 2401 reported a column of smoke from their station. All units were assigned County FTac 11 for ops. Battalion 2660 requested an additional tender and Boulder Rural Fire Rescue Tender 2341 was toned. Engine 2401 went arrival and reported a working fire, in the defensive strategy, pulled a 2 1/2 for attack, and establishing Cherryvale Command. Truck 2718 pulled another attack line off Engine 2401. Medic 2721 and Medic 2722 arrived and level one staged. Battalion 2760 arrived and assumed command, Tender 2446 arrived, and after Truck 2718 tank was dumped it was re-positioned and Tender 2446 became the water supply, supplying 3000 gallons. Lafayette Fire Department Battalion 2660 arrived and was assigned safety. Tender 2341 arrived and staged behind Tender 2446 ready to supply it’s tank. Medic 2721 pulled a third attack line from Engine 2401 and the fire was quickly brought under control. Truck 2718 used their ladder to see inside the old silo to check for extension. Crews mopped up and began going back in service. No injuries were reported and Rocky Mountain Fire is handling the investigation. Additional information and story by Brian Brindisi
