At approximately 08:22 on January 2nd, 2019 Colorado Springs Fire Department was dispatched to Wooten Rd. at Platte Ave. for a t-bone MVC with possible trapped. Colorado Springs Public Safety Communications Center advised an off-duty firefighter was on scene and confirmed a trapped party. Engine 8 arrived and established Wooten Command, and requested a second Engine and medic unit to report to the second accident scene. Battalion 2 arrived and assumed command, Engine 8 and Truck 8 began to extricate the patient. Truck 8 was then assigned Rescue Group with Engine 8 and Rescue 17. Engine 7 was assigned hazard mitigation. Engine 8 officer was assigned Safety Officer. AMR Supervisor 700 was reassigned transport coordinator. Engine 7 stabilization the vehicle and then returned into service. At 08:39 the patient was extricated and transported to an area trauma center. Once the patient was extricated fire unit began to collect equipment and returned into service. The accident is under investigation by the Colorado Springs Police Department.
