Thornton Station 6
Station 6 – Fossil Ridge
Fire Station 6 (Fossil Ridge Public Safety Center) is located at 13150 Quebec St. and dedicated on September 19th, 2018. Station 6 is also shared with the Thornton Police Department as a sub-station.
During construction in 2017 Saunders Construction workers found a rare dinosaur skeleton, the find is a rare dinosaur called Torosaurus (The Thornton Torosaurus) that lived 66 million years ago, and a distant cousin to the Triceratops. Some of the bones are displayed inside the front lobby of the station where the bones where found. Students at Brantner Elementary School nicknamed it “Tiny”, which is on displayed at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science.
