Patrick Mahany Procession
On July 9th, 2015 a procession was held on I-70 in honor for Flight for Life Pilot Patrick Mahany, who was killed when his Flight For Life crew crashed shortly after taking off in a parking lot outside of the St. Anthony Summit Medical Center in Frisco on July 3rd, 2015. Flight nurses Dave Repsher and Matt Bowe survived the crash but suffered serious injuries. The procession started at St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood with crowds lining the streets. First responders from all over the state saluted him as he passed on I-70. Mahany was 64-years old and a decorated Vietnam veteran and a 27 year veteran with Flight For Life. The memorial service will be held at the Dillon Amphitheatre. Also, the day of the procession is the 21st anniversary of the first and up to this time, the only fatal crash for Flight For Life on Huron Peak, which was July 9th, 1994 attempting to rescue a hiker who had suffered a broken ankle.
