MVC with Extrication

At 14:12 on September 28th, 2021 Colorado Springs Fire Department was dispatched to the area of Hwy. 115 and Lake Ave. for a traffic accident with trapped parties. On scene, crew discovered a vehicle on its side with one party trapped inside. Engine 4 upgraded the call to a working trapped assignment and established command. Engine 4 advised all in coming units, they had a single SUV on its side suspended in powerlines and requested Colorado Springs Utilities to respond. Truck 4 arrived and assumed Rescue Group and began to stabilize the vehicle with rescue struts from both Truck 1 and Truck 4. Once Heavy Rescue 17 arrived on scene it was determined they did not have enough struts as well and requested Fort Carson Fire & Emergency Services to respond with heavy rescue to assist with extrication. Once Fort Carson units arrived on scene, crews were able to finish stabilizing the vehicle and extricated the patient at 14:48. The patient was then transported to an area hospital. The incident is currently under investigation by the Colorado Springs Police Department.
