Colorado Springs Structure Fire

At approximately 16:20 on June 10th, 2020 Colorado Springs Fire Department responded to the 2700 block of W. Platte Ave. for a possible structure fire. While en route, dispatch advised of a house on fire and a large amount of black smoke in the area. Engine 3 arrived on scene with heavy fire and smoke showing from the building and upgraded the incident to a working fire, with smoke 100 feet in the air. Engine 3 then established Platte Command. Engine 3 began fire attack with Truck 1 and Engine 6; Battalion 1 assumed Platte Command and Truck 9 assumed RIC on arrival. Once Heavy Rescue 17 arrived they assumed RIC and HazMat 14 took the Safety and Accountability role. Truck 1 raised it’s aerial to gain roof access and found solar panels on the roof and advised other units. At 17:08 both the primary and secondary searches had been completed. Command then requested an additional Engine and Truck to respond code 2. The fire was declared under control at 22:51 and is currently under investigation. One firefighter was transported from the scene to an area hospital.
