Colorado Springs Rockhurst Blvd 2nd Alarm
2nd Alarm Garage Fire
At 02:20 on April 25th, 2021 Colorado Springs Public Safety Communications Center dispatched Colorado Springs Fire Department to a structure fire at 1440 Rockhurst Blvd. Engine 14 arrived to heavy flames showing from the three-car garage, and a working fire response was requested. Engine 14 advanced a 2 1/2 for offensive fire attack and pulled a 1 3/4 to the front door from HazMat 14. Engine 10 arrived and pulled a backup line in, and Truck 10 Ladders advised that smoke from the attic and laddered the roof and started vertical ventilation on the Delta side of the structure. Truck 10 Irons started primary search with HazMat 14 on the hose line. Battalion 4 arrived and set up command inside Truck 10’s cab, and requested a second alarm at 02:35. A second attack line was pulled to the Charlie side and crews worked with heavy fire conditions. Truck 10 Ladders was pulled off the roof with heavy fire through the roof. Truck 19 pulled a 2nd line off Engine 14 to the inside to assist with fire attack. A partial roof collapse was reported on the Charlie side, and Truck 10 put their stick up. Engine 12 assigned to supply Engine 10 with an additional water supply. Command assigned Engine 20 to safety and accountability. Crews got the fire under control at 03:30 and crews started an extensive overhaul. The fire cause is under investigation and no injuries were reported. All occupants safety self-evacuated by the smoke alarms. Additional information provided by Colorado Springs Fire Department.
