Colorado Springs Trench Rescue

At approximately 08:00 on December 17th, 2021 the Colorado Springs Fire Department responded to the area of Tutt Blvd. and Sisters Grove for a possible trench rescue. On en route, dispatch advised the patient fell 8-10 feet into a hole, with possible injuries. Engine 21 arrived on scene and assumed command, and confirmed they had a patient trapped inside the hole, however their was no collapse and advised Engine 21 and Rescue 17 could handle. Battalion 4 arrived on scene and assumed command, and requested all companies to continue in and staged. Truck 19 and Rescue 17 established Rescue Group and coordinated a plan of action. Engine 15 and Air 15 arrived and staged. Once a plan of action was determined, command held Engine 21, Rescue 17, Truck 19, 73, and Battalion 4 and canceled the other resources. Shortly after the patient was extricated and was transported to an area hospital to keep treatment for their injuries. Command was then terminated and companies returned to service.
