Colorado Springs Brush Fire
At approximately 12:50 on August 31, 2021 the Colorado Springs Fire Department was dispatched to the intersection of Cedar Valley Lane and Woodmen Road for a possible brush fire. Once enroute, dispatch advised they were receiving multiple callers about an unknown size grass possibly started by a lawn mower. While enroute, Engine 12 advised there was a large plomb of smoke coming for the area the fire was reported and requested a working brush fire assignment. Engine 12 arrived on scene, to an area approximately 1 acre of light and moderate fuels involved and started a wet line on the hot flank of the fire, as well as established Woodmen Command. Battalion 3 arrived on scene and assumed command and requested Colorado Springs Police or Colorado Springs Community Services to assist with traffic control. Wildland 4 arrived on scene and assumed Alpha Division. The fire was called under control at 13:31 and soon handed the scene over to fire investigator. Shortly after companies began to be released and command was terminated at 15:01. The total affected area was approximately 3 acres with no injuries reported.
