South Metro Residential Fire

July 22nd, 2021 at 18:08 South Metro Fire Rescue responded to a residential structure fire on Mountain Brush St. in Unincorporated Douglas County. Engine 17 confirmed that the home had fire showing from the roofline and pulled initial hose lines to fight the fire and to start setting up a water supply. Engine 33 finished the hydrant connection, brought a 1.75 line to the front door, and then moved inside to pull the ceiling to look for hot spots. Firefighters ensured that the home’s occupants had evacuated. With heavy lightning in the area, crews could not utilize the ladder off of Tower 34. However, with the aggressive offensive attack, crews were able to extinguish the fire quickly. No injuries were reported. Initial fire investigation points to lightning as the cause of the fire.
