Officer Gordon Beesley of the Arvada Police Department was honored and escorted on June 21st, 2021 with a procession that started in Olde Town Arvada and ended at the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office in Golden. Officer Beesley was shot and killed in the line of duty when he was responding to a call of a suspicious incident around 13:15 on June 21st, 2021 near the Arvada Library. Officer Beesley was with department for 19 years, and was a School Resource Officer at Oberon Middle School. A patrol vehicle was also on display in the front of the Arvada City Hall building, and the community came out in force to honor Beesley with flowers, balloons, letters, notes, flags, banners and more. Several of the signs in Arvada were also lit up in blue including the water tower in Olde Town.
