Colorado Springs Structure Fire
At approximately 13:20 on August 4th, 2022 Colorado Springs Communications Center dispatched the Colorado Springs Fire Department to the intersection of Cheyenne Blvd. and S. Tejon St. for a possible structure fire. AMR Medic 6 on a separate incident, advised they could see a larger header of smoke coming for the area. Battalion 1 arrived on scene to a working structure fire with heavy fire showing from the third floor. Truck 4 was assigned to conduct a primary search of the building while the first due engine grabbed a plug. Incident command then requested an evacuation of the surrounding buildings. Once Truck 4 had cleared the primary search they were reassigned to interim RIC until Rescue 17 arrived. A 2nd alarm was then called as Engine 1 identified there was active fire all the way through the middle unit. At 13:36 command advised crews got a good knock of the fire on the 3rd floor of the structure and Engine 13 was able to get a good knock on the Charlie side. Once Rescue 17 arrived, they assumed RIC from Truck 4; Truck 4 was then reassigned to aerial ops. Soon after Truck 1 requested an attack line to the 2nd floor landing to hit a pocket fire fire they discovered on the 3rd floor. Engine 16 and Truck 9 were soon canceled and the fire was called under control at 13:59. Companies began to be cycled through rehab and continued to identify and extinguish hotspots. Crews reminded on scene for an anther hour to search for hotspots and to assist investigators.
