West Metro Shed Fire

On April 29th, 2022 at 11:45 West Metro Fire Rescue with auto-aid from Arvada Fire Protection District responded to a possible structure fire in the 300 block of S. Carr St. in Lakewood with heavy winds in the area and on a red flag warning day. Engine 3 arrived on scene to a small detached garage shed with smoke showing and a working fire, pulled a line in for fire attack in the offensive strategy with Medic 2 and Medic 7. Engine 3 got water on the fire quickly with it extending to the fence on the Bravo side of the building. District 2 arrived and assumed command and assigned Tower 2 to assisted with fire attack and Engine 1 as RIT. Engine 8 secured the water supply to Engine 3 and Engine 4 pulled a 2nd line in with Tower 8. The fire was put under control quickly at 11:55 with limited spread and the auto-aid response was cancelled. The cause is under investigation.
