On May 9th, 2022 just before 11:00 Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Services Bureau (ESB) was dispatched to mile marker 113 on I-25 on a smoke report. Several callers were reporting smoke in the area with no flames seen. Due to the gusty winds mutual aid was requested from Pueblo West Fire Department for a Type 6 brush truck. Deputies arrived in the area to find several small road side fires smoldering on the west side of the highway. Crews along with Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) maintenance workers began knocking down any active fire. Units remained on scene for about an hour mopping up all the hot spots to ensure no rekindles as the wind continues to blow in the area. Additional information provided by Code 4 Photography

Units on Scene:

ESB: Brush 161, Brush 165 & Tender 192

Pueblo West Fire Department: Chief 805 & Brush 862
