On May 1st, 2022 around 20:45 Pueblo West Fire Department was dispatched to mile marker 311 on Hwy. 50 W. Callers reported that off the highway a small brush fire had started. Due to the gusty winds the fire quickly spread through the dry brush and was highly visible to anyone in the area. An off duty firefighter who lives in the area was able to relay to the responding units that the fire was actually south of Hwy. 50 and contained between Grouse Dr. and S. Birchwood Dr. At this time the fire had grown to several hundred feet long but was contained by the road to the east. Pueblo West firefighters arrived a short time later and quickly extinguished the flames and mopped up the remaining hot spots. Additional information provided by Code 4 Photography
