At approximately 13:14 on March 6th, 2023 Front Range Rescue 2921 notified Weld County Regional Communications Center (WCRCC) that there was a trash truck on fire at Front Range Fire Rescue Station 1 in Johnstown and asked that Engine 2902 be dispatched to Station 1 as 2901 was out on a call. Upon arrival crews found a medium sized rear loading refuse truck with light wispy smoke coming from the rear of the refuse compartment. Crews worked with the truck operator to slightly open the rear compartment so a fog nail could be used to get water and foam into the compartment. After the smoke was significantly reduced the refuse compartment was opened completely and a portion of the contents was dumped in the parking lot where it was completely extinguished. No injuries were reported.

Units on Scene:

Front Range Fire Rescue: Chief 2961, Battalion Chief 2960, Rescue 2921, Engine 2902 & Engine 2901
