On July 23rd, 2023 around 13:30 Pueblo West Fire Department was dispatched to the 300 block of W. Linden Ave. on a reported residential structure fire. Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Communications Center advised that 9-1-1 callers reported a BBQ was on fire and extending into the home. As fire units got into the area heavy smoke was seen coming from the neighborhood. A working fire was found in the single-family residence and believed to be in the attic space. Firefighters pulled lines from Ladder 851 and began an interior attack searching for the seat of the fire. While pulling ceiling in the garage, a large section of dry wall collapsed on two firefighters resulting in a mayday. Both firefighters were able to self extract and were treated by paramedics from AMR. Out of an abundance of caution both were transported to the hospital to be evaluated and have since been released. Two cats were located in the home and brought out safely and reunited with the family. Firefighters remained on scene several hours overhauling the house.
