Colorado Springs Structure Fire

At approximately 09:25 on April 5th, 2024 Colorado Springs Public Safety Communications Center dispatched the Colorado Springs Fire Department to the 4800 block of Garden Ranch Drive for a possible structure fire. Dispatch advised incoming units the reporting party advised smoke and flames were coming from Building J on the 2nd second. Engine 10 observed a smoke header coming from the area and upgraded the incident to a working fire. Engine 10 established Garden Ranch Command and established a water supply. Truck 10 and Engine 14 conducted a primary search of the effected apartments. Crews stretched a primary attack line and backup line from Engine 10 to the fire apartment. Hazmat 14 assumed the role of Safety and Accountability, while Battalion 4 assumed command from Engine 10 officer. At 09:32 crews were able to get water on the fire. Truck 9 arrived and established RIC (Rapid Intervention Crew) in front of the structure. Squad 7 set up rehab away from the scene, on Ranch Drive. Once searches were conducted, Truck 10 went to the roof to conduct ventilation. At 09:43, once the fire was a knock, companies began returning to service. At 09:44 the fire was declared under control. No injuries were reported by civilians or responders, 4 people were displaced. The fire is currently under investigation by the Colorado Springs Fire Department, Division of the Fire Marshal.
