At 10:36 on January 28th, 2024 the Colorado Springs Public Safety Communications Center dispatched the Colorado Springs Fire Department to the 900 block of Arcturus Drive for an automatic fire alarm sounding. While Engine 13 was responding, fire dispatch advised the incident had been upgraded to a possible structure fire and a structure fire compliment would be assigned. Once all units were responding dispatch updated, there was smoke and fire coming from an out-of-control fireplace; and that smoke and a propane smell was coming from the 2nd floor. On arrival Engine 13 advised there was smoke showing from the Bravo side of the building and declared the incident to a working fire. Engine 4 arrived and established a water supply, while Truck 4 was assigned fire attack 1. Once Engine 4 established supply, they deployed a backup line to the Bravo side of the building. Engine 1 arrived and deployed a 2nd attack line to the 3rd floor with Truck 1 as Fire Attack 2. At 10:47 Engine 13 got a knock down on the fire and Engine 3 established a 2nd water supply. At 10:49, the working fire assignment was cancelled as units on scene could handle. Fire Attack groups transitioned to ventilation and searches of the building. Medic 26 evaluated 2 occupants for minor injuries that were treated on the scene. Companies remained on scene ventilating until it was determined all smoke had been evacuated from the building. No serious injuries were reported, and the fire is not currently under investigation.
