Colorado Springs 3rd Alarm Fire
On August 30th at 06:08 Colorado Springs Public Safety Communications Center dispatched Colorado Springs Fire Department to a possible structure fire in the 3000 block of Radiant Dr. Engine 7 enroute reported a header and requested to upgrade to a working structure fire. Engine 7 arrived at a three-story garden level with heavy fire from the 2nd floor window Bravo side and started fire attack. Due to the size of the building and drastic fire behavior command requested a 2nd Alarm Assignment. Upon arrival, Special Ops 52 launched their drone and using an infrared camera showed that fire had extended into the attic space of the apartment building. Command then requested a 3rd Alarm assignment to the scene. Once 3rd alarm units arrived on scene, the bulk of the fire had been knocked down and crews continued searching fire hot spots. Once the fire was called under control, a total of 32 apartments were affected and 64 people were displaced. 5 people were treated on scene and a 6th person was transport to an area trauma center with serious injuries after jumping out of a window. The fire is currently under investigation by the Colorado Springs Fire Department, Division of the Fire Marshal. Additional information provided by the Colorado Springs Fire Department.
