2nd Alarm Structure Fire

At 15:48 on April 6th, 2024 Colorado Springs Public Safety Communications Center dispatched the Colorado Springs Fire Department to the 200 block of Willow St. at E. Platte Ave. for a possible structure fire. While units were responding dispatch advised they were receiving multiple callers stating a house was on fire with smoke and flames showing. Engine 1 arrived and confirmed reports; they upgraded the incident to a working structure fire. Engine 2 arrived and established a water supply from the south, as well as pulled a 2nd attack line. Engine 23 arrived and established an additional attack line to the Alpha side. Truck 1 was assigned vertical ventilation. Battalion Chief 2 arrived and assumed command. Engine 6 arrived and assumed Safety and Accountability. Truck 1 advised then Willow Command the attic was heavily involved in fire. Engine 23 pulled an additional backup line to the Alpha side. At 15:58, Willow Command requested a 2nd Alarm Assignment. Powerlines came down on the Charlie-Delta corner, Colorado Springs Utilities was then asked to expedite their response. Truck 1 and Engine 2 completed primary of the home and was all clear. Special Ops 52 confirmed to command all occupants of the home were out. Battalion Chief 1 arrived and was assigned at Charlie Division. Truck 10 assigned RIC (Rapid Intervention Crew) and Hazmat 14 took over Safety and Accountability. When units began recycling bottles Engine 1, Truck 4, and Heavy Rescue 17 were reassigned to perform a secondary search of the building. Charlie Division then advised they do have a knock down from Charlie side with smoke production from the Alpha / Delta corner. Once Battalion Chief 1, as Charlie Division, conducted a 360 of the structure fire was called under control at 16:26. Crews then transitioned to searching for extension and overhaul. Squad 21 established rehab with Air 15 on the Alpha side. At 16:31, Command called all company officers to report to the command post to conduct a debrief and discuss a plan of action. Shortly after companies began to be released from the scene. No injuries were reported by civilians or responders, cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Colorado Springs Fire Department, Division of the Fire Marshal.
