Fort Collins Windcreek Court 2nd Alarm Structure Fire
Poudre 2nd Alarm Structure Fire
On November 14th, 2024 Poudre Fire Authority was dispatched to a two-story home in the 1500 block of Windcreek Court after the fire was reported by two people that work in roofing. The roofers saw the smoke and went to the home. They provided important information to dispatchers about the location of the smoke and that two dogs were inside. While en route, Ladder 5 told dispatchers that they could see a smoke column approximately half a mile away. Battalion Chief upgraded the response and requested an additional ambulance. When crews arrived, they could see the smoke was coming from the backside of the home. Crews performed a 360 review around the property and pulled a hose to begin the attack. Another crew began the primary search inside the home, which is when they found and rescued the first dog. The firefighters reentered the home to complete the search and located and rescued the second dog. Once firefighters extinguished the fire, the crews transitioned to ventilation, clean-up, and securing of the home. The fire and smoke caused extensive damage, and the family was displaced from their home. No one was home at the time of the fire other than the dogs and no injuries reported. Poudre fire investigator has determined that the cause of the fire was accidental and caused by improperly disposed of smoking materials. Additional information provided by Poudre Fire Authority
