Colorado Springs Structure Fire

At 01:43 on July 2nd, 2024 Colorado Springs Fire Department Engine 5 reported a possible structure fire in the area of their station at S. 29th St. and W. Colorado Ave. At 01:47, Engine 5 confirmed there was heavy smoke coming from a vacant residence and stretched a line to the Charlie side. Engine 3 arrived and laid a reverse double supply to Engine 5. Truck 1 was assigned to open up the boarded windows. Engine 5 then advised all companies that the building has been acquired for training and has already been vertically ventilated. In addition to Engine 3 establishing a water supply, they also pulled a 2nd attack line to the Alpha side. Battalion 1 assumed Colorado Command, while Engine 5 was able to locate the main body of fire in the basement on the Delta side. Engine 6 was assigned Safety and Accountability, while Heavy Rescue 17 established R.I.C. At 02:27 the fire was knocked down by Command. Shortly after crews began to break down equipment and the address was updated to the 2800 block of W. Colorado Ave. No injuries were reported, and the fire is under investigation by the Colorado Springs Fire Department, Division of the Fire Marshal.
