On November 30th, 2024 the Berthoud Fire Protection District placed their new 2024 Rosenbauer Commander Engine into service at Station 61. This engine replaces a 2001 HME/Ferrara Engine which will be sold. Engine 61 is now serving the downtown area of Berthoud. Firefighters and the public gathered this morning as the new engine was wet down with water from the old Engine 61 and pushed into the station as the old horse drawn fire engines were in the early days of firefighting. This ceremony also included a 4-4-4 bell ringing to signify the new engine as in-service. Engine 61 was placed in service at approximately 08:05am by the Larimer County Communications Center.
