Wiggins Grass Fire

At approximately 12:35 on on August 31st, 2024 in the afternoon Wiggins Rural Fire Protection District was dispatched to a grass fire north of Riverside Reservoir. Brush 951 arrived to find a 5 acre grass fire slow moving on Weld County Rd. 62, 2 miles west from County Rd. 89 and began initial attack. Brush 952 arrived shortly behind Brush 951 and tied in with them for the initial attack. Crews refilled several times and completed a mop up around the fires edge. Once mop up was completed command was terminated and crews returned to service.
