Wet Mountain Controlled Burn Wildland Training The Wet Mountain Fire Protection District conducted a controlled burn on Copper Gulch Road near Milepost 1 on February 26th, 2026. Controlled burns are a land management tool that involved the controlled application of fire to a specific area to encourage vegetation grown, improve water quality and enhance wildlife habits.

Deer Mountain Italian Feast The Deer Mountain Volunteer Fire Department held an Italian Feast at Station 1, 6181 County Rd. 28 on February 26th, 2026. The community was invited out to enjoy lasagna, spaghetti, garlic bread, salad and dessert. The event served as a fundraiser for the volunteer department that covers 260 square miles in Fremont County.
