Southwestern Highway 115 Fire Protection District was originally named Southwest Highway 115 Volunteer Fire Department (SW115VFD), and created and organized in 1993.

Southwestern Highway 115 Fire Protection District is part of the Southern Colorado (SOCO) Interagency Wildland Team (South Group).
