Gunnison County Fire Protection District is also known as the Gunnison Volunteer Fire Department and Gunnison Fire Rescue, all areas of the fire district are serviced by the same personnel and units. Gunnison County Fire Protection District has assumed responsibility for the Almont Fire Department service area.

Ohio City Volunteer Fire Department, Sargents Volunteer Fire Department and Taylor Canyon Volunteer Fire Department are part of the Gunnison County Fire Protection District.
