Sterling Fire Protection District
Sterling Fire Department (SFD), founded in 1884 covering 650 square miles in Logan County (Colorado) including the towns and areas of Ackerman, Atwood, Centennial Square, Chimney Canyons, Hall, Iliff, Krull Park, Logan, Logan County Fairgrounds, Merino, Overland Trail Museum, Padroni, Sterling, Pawnee Creek, Pawnee Hills, Sterling Reservoir, Sand Creek, Tamarack Ranch & Willard. The City of Sterling Fire Department protects the City of Sterling and the Sterling Rural Fire Protection District (SRFPD). The City of Sterling is seven square miles in area. The City of Sterling Fire Department provides fire/rescue provides services to the Sterling Rural Fire Protection District through a contract with the Sterling Rural Fire Protection District. The Sterling Rural Fire Protection District encompasses over 600 square miles. The towns of Merino and Iliff and the Padroni and Atwood communities are within the Rural Fire Protection District.
On November 1st, 2011 the Sterling Fire Department began operating the Logan County Ambulance Service for Logan County, providing EMS transport services for all of Logan County. The fire district took over the Willard Volunteer Fire Department area.
Sterling Fire Protection District is dispatched by the Sterling Emergency Communications Center (SECC).
