Moffat County Sheriff Wildland Fire Team

The Moffat County Sheriff’s Office deputies receive training yearly in fire suppression and arson investigation. The sheriff’s office responds to approximately 12 wildland fires yearly and also supports the Dinosaur National Park, the Bureau of Land Management, and the National Forest Service in their efforts in suppressing wildland fires throughout the region.

This department is responsible for responding to wildland fires occurring outside of the existing fire districts. This department is also responsible for assisting the Bureau of Land Management, the National Park Service, and the National Wildlife Service in managing wildland fires that are multi-jurisdictional in nature.
