Arkansas Valley Ambulance District (AVAD), providing medical service in Western Fremont County (Colorado) and parts of Chaffee County including the areas of Coaldale, Howard, Hurts Peak, Red Mountain, Swissvale & Wellsville.

The Arkansas Valley Ambulance District was originally the Arkansas Valley Ambulance which disbanded in 2013 due to legal issues and became the Ark River EMS which was also disbanded in 2018 due to legal issues. A new board of directors was established in 2018 and the Arkansas Valley Ambulance District was created.
