On October 12th, 2024 the Larimer County Dive Rescue Team (LCDRT) completed a hands on training with six of their new cadets and several active team members at Watson Lake in Fort Collins, Colorado. This training consisted of using the Body Recovery System training (BRS) and search pattern training. Cadets completing the training with the BRS had to use their training from search patterns to locate a body (mannequin) for a recovery operation. Once the mannequin was located the cadets would call for assistance from another member of the team who would bring the BRS to the primary diver. The two divers would then work together to place the mannequin in the BRS and bring the system to the shore for further direction from the investigating agency. These trainings are the basic training required to be deemed able to respond to emergency callouts for the agency. Cadets will continue to build their training and their knowledge as they go through more extensive and specialized training moving forward. The Larimer County Emergency Services team also had a paramedic present as this is a requirement on callouts for the LCDRT.
