Auburn City Fire Department

Auburn City Fire Department, located in Placer County (California) including the areas of Gietzen, Golden Chain, James Field, Maidu & Martin Park.

Auburn City Fire Department was established in 1852 as the Hook and Ladder Company. In 1881 the citizens of east Auburn organized another fire department, originally called the Uptown Fire Department, in 1887 the department changed the name to the Central Hose Company of Auburn and 1888 changed the name to the Auburn Hose Company No. 1. In early 1900’s the two fire departments joined together as one department.

In 2015 the Auburn Fire Department became the Auburn Public Safety Department merging with the Auburn Police Department until 2018 when the departments separated back.
