Long Beach Fire Department (LBFD), covering 55 square miles and located in Los Angeles County (California) including the areas of Addams, Alamitos Beach, Alamitos Heights, Artcraft Manor, Belmont Heights, Belmont Park, Belmont Shore, Bixby Hill, Bixby Knolls, Bixby Village, Bluff Heights, California Heights, Carson Park, College Estates, Eastside, East Village, El Dorado Park, El Dorado South, Hamilton, Lakewood Village, Los Altos, MacArthur Park, Memorial Heights, Naples, North Long Beach, Old Lakewood City, Plaza, Queensway Bay, Rancho Estates, Rose Park, San Pedro, Signal Hill, Stratford Square, Sunrise, Washington, West Long Beach, Whittier & Willmore.

Long Beach Fire Department was organized in 1897 as a Volunteer Fire Department and in the spring of 1898 the Spanish-American War broke out and several members resigned to enter the Armed Services, which caused this department to disband in favor of the war. In 1902 the volunteer fire department was re-organized with with the formation of three companies.
