Santa Barbara City Fire Department (SBFD), covering 23 square miles in Santa Barbara County (California) including the areas of Alameda Padre Serra, Alta Mesa, Bel Air, Chase Palm Park, Cielito, City Collage, Douglas Preserve, East Beach, East Mesa, Elings Park, Escondido Park,  Franceschi Park, Gaviota Pass, Goleta Beach Park, Harris Park, Hilda McIntyre Ray Park,  Hidden Valley, Honda Valley, Isla Vista, La Cumbra, Laguna, La Mesa Park, Leadbetter Beach, Lower Riviera, Lower State, Los Padres National Forest, Mesa, Mesa Lane Beach, Milpas, Mount Calvary Retreat, Oak Park, Old Mission, Parma Park, Point Castillo, Rincon, Riviera, Rocky Nook Park, Samarkand, San Roque, Santa Barbara Harbor, Santa Barbara Point, Shoreline Park, Skofield, State Street, Stearns Wharf, Sycamore Canyon, Vic Trance Reservoir, Waterfront, West Beach, West Mesa & Westside.

Santa Barbara City Fire Department was originally founded in 1874 as the Pioneer Company # 1 and eventually disbanded because of inactivity and lack of interest. In 1881 the Washington Fire Company # 2 was founded, and in 1906 the company became the Santa Barbara City Fire Department.
