White Mountain Fire Protection District

White Mountain Fire Protection District (WMFPD), formed in 1967 and covering 123 square miles in Mono County (California) including the areas of Benton, Benton Hot Springs, Blind Spring Valley, Chalfant Valley, Clark Ranch, Goolsby Ranch, Hammil Valley, Montgomery City, Montgomery Creek & Tri-Valley.

White Mountain Fire Protection District (WMFPD), formed in 1967 to provide structural fire protection to approximately 187 square miles in Benton, Hammil, and Chalfant Valleys. The district was reduced to 175 square miles in 1974 when 10 ranches were detached from the district. The district was further reduced, to approximately 123 square miles, by the formation of the Chalfant Valley Fire Protection District in 1988.

The district boundaries include Benton and Hammil Valleys. The district is bordered to the east by the White Mountains, to the west by the Benton Range, to the south by the Chalfant Valley, and to the north by the Nevada State Line.
