Frankfort Fire Protection District

Frankfort Fire Protection District (FFD), covering 41.98 square miles in Will & Cook Counties (Illinois) including the areas of Arbury Hills, Bear Claw, Big Buck Trail, Brookmeadow Park, Frankfort Square, Green Garden, Heritage Knolls, Hickory Creek, Hunters Woods County Forest Preserve, Jackson Creek, Kohlhagen Park, Lincoln Estates, Lincoln Way, Mokena, North Park, Prestwick, South Park, Stone Creek, Timbers Edge Park, & Village of Frankfort.

Frankfort Fire Protection District was originally founded in 1885 as a volunteer department. In 1962 a tax supported Fire Protection District was formed. A referendum was passed in 1984 to established the Frankfort Fire Ambulance District. In 1985 the district enters into its first contract with Kurtz Ambulance Service to provide Advanced Life Support EMS.
