(Battalion 6 Command) Fire Station 53 is located at 6231 S. Arlington Ave. This Station is originally the Bunker Hill Fire Department, and former Franklin Township Fire Department (Indiana) Station 553, merged with Indianapolis Fire Department in 2010. The Franklin Township Fire Department was originally formed in 1991 with the consolidation of the Wanamaker Fire Department, Acton Fire Department and the Bunker Hill Fire Department.
