Marshalltown Fire Department (MFD), covering square miles in Marshall County (Iowa) including the areas of Anson Park, Elmwood, Iowa River, Linn Creek, Riverview & Sand Lake.

Marshalltown Fire Department started with several fire companies, the Rescue Hook and Ladder Company was formed in 1868. The Washington Independent Hose Company was organized in 1874 under the name of the Washington Independent Engine Company, and later the  name changed to the G.M. Woodbury Independent Hose Company. The Hope Hose Company was organized in 1875. The Alert Hose Company was organized in 1877 and later replaced in 1881 by the Anson Hose Company Number 4, which disbanded in 1902 for the paid fire department.
