Benton Fire District # 4

Benton Fire District # 4, covering 174 square miles in Bossier Parish (Louisiana) including the areas of Alden Bridge, Belcher, Black Bayou, Cypress Bayou, Cypress Bayou Reservoir, Seven Pines, Swan Lake, Vanceville & Willow Chute. (FDID # 08005)

Benton Fire District # 4 was organized as the Benton Volunteer Fire Department in 1953. The Bossier Parish Police Jury created Benton Fire District # 4 in 1987, and the first 10-mil Maintenance and Operations tax was passed in 1988. The fire district began providing fire protection for the Town of Benton on January 1st, 1989. In 1997, a renewal for the 10-mil Maintenance and Operations tax was passed. An additional 10-mil tax was passed in July of 1998 to fund the hiring of a full-time Fire Chief and firefighters.
