Kansas City Fire Department (KFCD), covering 318 square miles in Clay, Jackson, Platte Counties (Missouri) including the areas of Avondale, Beacon Hill, Blue Valley, Brookside, Center City, Chouteau Estates, Colonial Square, Crossroads, Crown Center, East Bottoms, East Swope Highlands, Englewood, Gashland, Harlem, Hickman Mills, Hill Haven, Hospital Hill, Hyde Park, Indian Creek, Ingleside, Jeffreys, Kansas City Airport, Knobtown, Lake Waukomis, Line Creek, Little Italy, Lykins, Marlborough, Martin City, Nashua, Parkview, Oak Meyer Gardens, Oak Park, Paseo West, Penn Valley Park, Pendleton Heights, Platte Woods, Red Bridge, River Forest, Riverside, Rockhill, Royal Meadows, Ruskin Heights, Sheffield, Sherwood Estates, Shoal Creek, Squire Park, Village of the Oaks, Village of Oakwood, Village of Oakwood Park, Waldo, Weatherby Lake, West Bottoms, Westport, Winnwood & Winnwood Gardens.

Kansas City Fire Department was first originated with the formation of several volunteer bucket brigades. In 1868 the John Campbell Steamer No. 1 was formed. McGee Hook & Ladder 1  was organized in 1869. In 2010, Metropolitan Ambulance Services Trust (MAST) merged into the Kansas City Fire Department.

Kansas City Fire Department consists of 34 fire stations organized into seven battalions.
