South Schenectady Fire Department (Rotterdam District # 6), all-volunteer department covering square miles in including the towns and areas of Antonia Hills, Currybush, Dunnsville, Edgewood, Maple Ski Ridge, Mariaville, Poutre Park, Princetown, Rotterdam, Schalmont & Scotch Ridge.

South Schenectady Fire Department was formed in 1936, and in 1937 the Town Board approved the District comprising of two companies, the Frank Haddon Hose Company, and the James G. Hilderbrand Company.
