La Grande Rural Fire Protection District (LGRFPD), founded in 1949 and covering 149 square miles in Union County (Oregon) including the areas of Boise Cascade Particle Board Plant, Gekeler Ditch, Grande Ronde River, Island City, McAlister Ditch, Pierce Slough, Spring Slough & Union County Airport.

La Grande Rural Fire Protection District is also known as the Island City Fire Department.

The Emergency Medical Service response and transport to the rural district is provided by the La Grande Fire Rescue (Oregon).

La Grande Rural Fire Protection is dispatched by the Blue Mountain Interagency Dispatch Center (BMIDC).
