Rapid City Fire Department

Rapid City Fire Department (RCFD), covering 55 square miles in Pennington County (South Dakota) including the areas of Canyon Lake, Canyon Lake Park, Cleghorn Canyon, College Park, Custer State Park, Dinosaur Park, Hanson-Larson Memorial Park, Springbrook Acres, Rapid Creek, Robbinsdale, Robbinsdale Park & Whispering Pines.

Rapid City Fire Department originally consisted of four companies organized in 1881, the Gate City Hose Company, Sweeney Hose Company, North Rapid Hose Company and the Rapid City Hook and Ladder. The department became formally organized in 1907.

Rapid City Fire Department is dispatched by the Pennington County 9-1-1 Dispatch Center.
