On April 8th, 2025 at 09:43 the Colorado Springs Public Safety Communications Center dispatched the Colorado Springs Fire Department to a reported structure fire at 1765 N. Academy Blvd. As Engine 7 was pulling out of their bay, they noticed heavy smoke and immediately called a working fire. Engine 7 arrived 3 minutes later to heavy black smoke coming from the roofline of the building. A 2nd alarm was ordered due to the size of the building and the extent of the fire. Tower 1 was able to quickly deploy 3 firefighters to the roof to cut a hole for ventilation. N. Academy was shut down for a period of time so firefighters could access an additional hydrant across the street for water supply. The fire was called under control at 10:27 and no injuries were reported. The fire is under investigation for the cause. Additional information provided by the Colorado Springs Fire Department.
