NOCO 2nd Annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb

With several stair climbs in the Denver-Metro area of the state, Poudre Fire Authority chose to host a stair climb in Northern Colorado for the second year in a row. This event brings firefighters and community members from Northern Colorado together to climb and honor those who perished. Each climber was invited to pick a first responder “tag” and “climb with them”, then they were given the homework assignment to go home and research the hero they climbed with. This allows the memory to carry on and never be forgotten. Firefighters from Poudre Fire, Windsor-Severance Fire, Ault-Pierce Fire, Berthoud Fire, Fort Collins Police and UCHealth EMS participated in the climb alongside community members and firefighters from across the region. UCHealth Lifeline and the National Guard provided helicopter flyovers to kick off the climb. As climbers finished the equivalent of 110 stories, the height of the World Trade Center towers, they each rang a bell to signify completion. Some climbers chose to say the name of the hero on the tag they climbed with.
