The Annual Colorado 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb was held on September 11th, 2026 at Red Rocks Park and Amphitheater outside of Morrison. This is the 18th year and started at Red Rocks in 2009, as a way to expand the Denver-area tradition. More than 4,000 participants were registered, which included people from the Netherlands, and participants from 32 states. These participants performed nine laps around the amphitheater, which is equivalent to the 110 stories of the World Trade Center towers. Shawn Duncan and West Metro Fire Rescue raised more than $180,000 for this year’s event alone, and a total of more than $15 million dollars has been raised since the inception of the organized stair climb. Hundreds of first responders, friends and family come to the event, as to remember those lost from the terrorist attacks on New York City and Washington, DC in 2001. This is a time of remembrance, sharing stories, and a way to continue building the bond between all first responders and the communities that our first responders serve.
